Most people have the impresion that cactus dont need water to grow well.This is not true cactus need water like any other plant the only difference is that they colect water and they can survive for a long time but if you want them to grow fast you have to give them water and fertiliser .Be carefull with the compost it must drain well or your cactus might rot.
